What they do?

The Care Quality Commission are the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They are responsible for inspecting all care homes to ensure regulations are adhered to. According to their website they say: "We monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and we publish what we find, including performance ratings to help people choose care."
